When an automation fails, the error is saved in the history (and in the tracking channel if there is one). Here is the full list of errors, then the frequent questions.
Frequent questions
My automation doesn't start
- Check it's on and not over the quota (badge on its card).
- Check the Automations module is on, on the server home.
- Read the trigger settings again: watched channels, text searched, roles… An event that doesn't match them leaves no trace in the history.
- By default, bots and webhooks are ignored (Settings tab).
- A cooldown can block runs that are close together.
- Run a simulation test: the result shows the path taken and the false conditions.
It paused itself
After 10 failures in a row, the bot pauses it and warns the managers (bell of the website). Open the History tab, read the error, fix it, save, then turn it back on.
The role isn't given
The role must be below the bot's role in the Discord server settings, not managed by an app and give no moderation rights (administrator, manage roles, ban, manage messages…). The bot needs Manage Roles.
A variable stays written as is
The variable isn't given by this trigger, or it's misspelled. Use the Insert a variable button: it only lists the available variables.
My command doesn't show on Discord
It's registered a few seconds after saving, if the automation is on and within the quota. Reload your Discord app (Ctrl + R). A name already used by a Dispatch.IO command is refused.
A “Wait” action never finished
What follows resumes at the planned time, even after a bot restart. It's dropped if the automation was deleted or turned off, or if the next blocks were deleted meanwhile.
A schedule was skipped
The bot checks schedules every 20 seconds. If the bot was offline more than 10 minutes after the planned time, that run is skipped and the next one is planned normally.
